METHODS USED TO EDUCATE PARTIALLY SIGHTED AND BLID CHILDREN

A. Education of blind children

1. Brale sysstem 2. Using talking books

1. Brale system:-
Brale consists of a state and the system invented by “Brale” that was quite normal in his early age but later he got blindness. Brale is working using 6 dots in different manner representing a specific word. Blind children feel these dots on fingertips and understood.
2. Using talking books (cassettes):
Since blind children can not see but can hear. For educating such children lectures are delivered in the form of audiocassettes.

B. Education of partially sighted children

1. Using optics 2. Using magnifying glass

3. Room designing and lightening

1. Using optics:
Since partially sighted children are not completely blind therefore their eyesight can be improved by using glasses or optical. Now a days eyesight can be tested by using computer that gives an accurate value of the degree of weakness and suitable glasses to be used as an aid for the child. It is important to note that if optical are not applied to the partially sighted children, eyestrain increases and end result is in gradual loss of eyesight. So optical ate to be used strictly .
2. Using magnifying glass:
Magnifying glass is one that magnifies the image of the object when it is kept near it. Magnifying glass actually enlarges the image, which can be seen easily than in the normal case.
3. Room designing and lightening:
The room designed for partially sighted children should be white washed and well illuminated. There should be colourful objects in the room that could be visualized easily, but that colours should not be reflecting as reflecting irritates. Another important thing is that there should be no shadows of objects that makes the person get in to conflict to distinguish between the object and its shadow. In short there should be no illumination problem.
